The only thing you would have. wanted being there is a good pay scale. and your mind is poking you continuously to make a switch but your heart isn't. 

Sometimes you feel undervalued on the wages you get for the contributions you make for the company and its growth. It is fair to have these thoughts, but have you ever thought of tackling this without making a switch?

Step 1: Draft a detailed email

How negotiate is highly dependant on your communication skills and how better you are at it. If you are confident enough to remember and speak about everything you prepared above, go for a meeting or a phone call. 

However, Sometime the management might not have enough time to listen to everything hence it is better to draft a good email that talks about your journey, achievements and your projections to align with the growth of the company.

Step 2: Request a Meeting

Now that you have sent an email to them, wait for them to go through it and I am sure they would get back to you, if not you can request a meeting upfront and then discuss all the points mentioned in your email.

  • Timing Matters: Choose a time when the company is not overly busy. Performance reviews can be an ideal moment.
  • Be Professional: Politely request a meeting without revealing your agenda immediately.

Step 2: The Meeting

  1. Start Positively: Begin by expressing gratitude for the opportunity and your eagerness to contribute more.
  2. Present Your Case: Clearly articulate your contributions, using your prepared list and quantifiable successes.
  3. State Your Request: Confidently, but respectfully, present your goals based on your research.
  4. Listen Actively: Be open to feedback and ready to address any concerns or counterpoints.

Step 3: Handling Responses

  • Be Prepared for Any Outcome: Yes, no, or maybe – be ready to respond constructively.
  • Negotiation is a Dialogue: It may take more than one conversation, so be patient but persistent.

After the Negotiation

If Yes

  • Express Gratitude: Acknowledge the agreement and express your appreciation.
  • Follow-Up in Writing: Ensure there's a written record of the agreed terms.

If No

  • Seek Feedback: Understand the reasons and what could be improved.
  • Plan Your Next Steps: Consider whether you can accept the decision or need to reconsider your position within the company.
